First Concert: Tim McGraw!!

One of Kyle's graduatin presents was two concert tickets to see Tim McGraw. He had mentioned several times that Katie had already been to several concerts (Destiny's Child and Black Eyed Peas) and here he was graduating and had not ever been to one. So I looked around on the internet and saw Tim was playing at the White River Amphitheatre in Auburn, Wa. I got him two tickets so he could take a friend, brother or whoever. After pretty much demanding, Kyle had only one option: take Brian. We all like Tim McGraw. I was jealous. They left Tuesday afternoon after Kyle's orthodontist appointment in Wenatchee and headed to Auburn. They said it was a great concert and had a really fun time. Next time however Kyle said he will bring a date because most people seemed to be there with dates and danced a lot to the songs he was singing! He didn't feel comfortable doing that with Brian :). Now Kyle can go to college and Brian can go on his mission not being deprived of the experience of going to see someone live in concert. They spent the night with their dad in Gig Harbor and then headed back to good old Pateros on Wednesday. They made a quick stop in Manson to visit Kristie and the "gang".

Saving The Flowers ...

Bob has been busy this weekend with a little project. He has set up a automatic watering system for my flowers, the potted and the hanging baskets. I was worried about what to do when we went on vacation for over a week. The last time we went on vacation Bob asked one of his employees who lives in town if he would water the flowers each day and when we came back we are pretty sure he came over that day to water them but had done very little if any before that time. We have a week to test it out. It is set up to water them 3 times a day. Of course the weather has been unpredictable but by this weekend here it's supposed to be in the mid 90's so with that kind of heat they will need watering 3 times a day to stay alive. Now if he'd just get drawing our house plans hmmmm....

Our Town

The title of my blog is "Life in Pateros". Most of my family has been to Pateros but anyone else that might read my blog would be wondering where the heck is Pateros? Believe me, I wondered the same thing before I moved here. We are located in the center of the state of Washington, about 20 miles north of Lake Chelan. Like I mentioned it has less than a 1.000 people. Our school is a K-12 school with just about 300 students total. Each class has about 15-25 kids. Life in a small town has it's ups and downs. The biggest adjustment for me is for sure the "shopping". I have to drive 60 miles to go to Costco or the mall. When I saw "mall" it's not a big nice mall that most of you are used to, but hey it's better than nothing and it does have a Macy's and a Buckle (they have cool jeans :) ) A few things about a small town: 1. Everyone does know your business and sometimes they know it even before you do! 2. Your kids can't get away with anything, someone always knows and tells. 3. You have the opportunity to be friends with everyone, kids that you might not normally hang-out with and that have different interests than you. 4. If your the center of some sort of drama don't worry because soon enough someone else will take your spot (this is usually a good thing). 5. You get used to driving a lot and for everything: work, sports, shopping, church activities and just about everything you can think of. We have to make the most of wherever we are and learn to appreciate and see the good. I am trying to do this, some days it is easier than others!

Just A Beginner

Some of you "pro" bloggers may have figured out that I have been posting my pictures and comments in the wrong place. After a little investigation my sister Kristie figured out what I was doing wrong. I am not going to take the time to re-do it all. I will just do it right in the future. It anyone wants to make a comment on an previously posted pictures etc you can do it here!
