Easter Post - all mixed up.

Well, this post ended up all mixed up, so that's why the title says "all mixed up". Because it is. I am tired and don't have the energy to figure out how to change it.Our chocolate cream pie, it was good. I'm afraid of how many more pieces I am going to eat in the next few days. But best of all, you can buy it at Costco.

For most people the first part of their chocolate bunny they eat is the ears. There's my Easter trivia.

For Easter weekend I:

1. Spent Friday shopping at Costco for dinner, a dress for Katie, and treats for my grown kids Easter baskets. They still like them.

2. Prepared my singing time on Saturday, planted some flowers, made jello for Sunday dinner, realized I hated the skirt I thought I was going to wear Sunday, got the baskets ready for the morning.

3. Got up early on Sunday AM to get ready for church, prepare breakfast, clean up breakfast (at least most of it), get the roast in the crock pot, go to church early with Katie to set up singing time, come home from church and make a quick lunch, take a nap, spend 1.5 hours finishing dinner preparations, spend 15 minutes eating dinner and then another hour+ cleaning up dinner.

4. Find some pants that won't be too tight that I can wear to work tomorrow!

A Mystery

We have been missing the remote to Katie's TV for a while now. Last week I bought another receiver box at Costco for her TV and it came with a new remote BUT, we still needed to return the old one. I pretty much told Bob it was a lost cause, we were not going to find it, he was going to have to resign himself to the fact that we would need to pay the 35 dollar fee for losing it. Yesterday I went upstairs to put something away in Katie's room and when I walked into her room, there lying on the bed, were TWO remotes. I thought to myself, well yeah Katie, she found it. I send her a text and said I was glad she found the remote. She text me back and said she didn't find it, she went into her room and they were both just sitting there on her bed. I didn't find it, Katie didn't find it, Bob didn't find it. What do you think?? Do we have a possessed cat, was it an answer to a prayer (oh, wait I didn't actually say a prayer to find it), maybe it will just be a mystery! Oh well, Bob's happy.

A Different Perspective...

I just thought I would share an interesting principle that was shared by our high council speaker at church yesterday. His topic was adversity (it seems like that has been the topic quite a bit lately). He shared an experience he had recently with someone that he home teaches. It is a woman who lives every day with chronic pain that is quite debilitating. He mentioned his topic for his upcoming talk to her and she said oh that's easy (meaning living with adversity). He encouraged her to share her insight which was this: "life is meant to be challenging and difficult with occasional periods of ease, not the other way around". Wow. I mean I guess I really knew this deep down but I still want to believe that life should generally be easy with occasional trials and challenges. It is something to think about...

Welcome Spring, I've Been Waiting For You!

new door mat (all winter decor put away, I don't want to look at anything close to resembling snow or snowmen)...

of course spring isn't complete without a few new items to freshen up your wardrobe! I loved this jacket and I got it at Fred Meyer.

and for all the sports fans out there, spring also includes March Madness! (I had to chuckle today, Kyle sent me a text that said something like "I know this sounds bad but i don't want to be at church today because I'm missing games" I said "well, I don't know what to say" Kyle said "but I'm here" and I said "and sometimes that's all we can do is be there" :)

New Do's

it's kind of hard to tell, but both dog's have been to the beauty parlor for the "works" which includes: bath, hair-cut, nails trimmed and teeth brushed. Next it's Bob's turn. :)

I have to say that she did pitch good despite the score. I really don't know how many of the runs were actually earned. Not 15. Lots of errors. Hard to win with lots of errors. There's always next game. Softball season is officially underway!

Small Town Parade ... Happy St. Paddy's Day!

Bob and I went to the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in Chelan today. It was a cold, cloudy day, but at least not snowing or raining! The parade is mostly what this sign say's: dogs, dogs, and more dogs.

Crossword Puzzle Clue (one across, four letters)

What is a shopper's paradise?

Answer: Sale (of course)

A couple days ago as I was working away on paper-work in my tiny little office at work (which happens to be right off the dining room where meals and most of the resident's activities happen). That particular afternoon the activity planned was a crossword puzzle. This was the first clue. Of course the word shoppers caught my attention so I listened on and I just kind of blurted out the answer, quietly I thought. But then I heard the activities director say, I heard someone say the answer, so I peeked my head around out the door and admitted it was me who knew that answer so quickly, haha. I have to say, they were pretty impressed.

The picture above shows my latest bargain. I found these cute rain boots at Macy's for ten bucks! That's right, ten bucks! I had been keeping my eye out for a cute little pair of rain boots for Katie and Joslin. I mean, you have to have cute boots when you go feed and water your pigs! I looked at Target and their boots were 24.99, not too bad I thought but still not on sale, so I kept looking, Then I found my bargain. They were on a rack that was 40% off, there was a sign that they were an additional 50% off, and of course I had a coupon to save an additional 20%. So there you have it, my ten dollar boots so the girls will look cute and stylish as they care for their pigs this spring/summer. Pitiful that this is all I have to blog about. :)

High Rollin in ... Yakima??

Katie and I went to Yakima for a couple days for our annual state basketball trip. It seems for the past five + years Pateros has either sent their girls or boys to state. This year both teams made it. It's an excuse to get out of town!

Most of Katie's friends play basketball but one of her senior buddies didn't so they got together and made shirt to show their support.
We ate a few meals at Mcdonald's. One of Katie's best friends, Joslin, stayed with us after the girls team lost out (it's a double elimination tourney) and the boys were still playing. Joslin had 8 free meals at McDonald's that had to be used by the end of this weekend and only good in Yakima, so we enjoyed some fine dining. It was free so that's always fine to me!

The boys getting ready before they announced the starting line-up. Unfortunately they lost so we had to head home Friday afternoon. But like I said an excuse to get out of town and we need those every now and then in a small town!

P.S. I didn't blog about my last out of town get-away with mom and sister's cuz I had all the same pictures and I was a little slow getting to my blogging, but I had a super fun time too and just wish we could do it a little more often. I wish I lived close to all of you so we could get together whenever we wanted. :(

He's really still alive ...

it's good to have proof every now and then that he's really living and breathing out there somewhere, haha! the first picture is the house where he had to make a little "pit" stop when no other bathroom could be found, second picture is his current companion (he say's he's nice, smart but a little lazy) and apparently they will be together for another six weeks, last picture i have no idea who they are (Brian was telling the truth they don't wear a lot of clothes there!) i was hoping he would send a picture of the gigantic spiders they have, maybe next time.

Here Comes the Sun

we haven't seen the sun here for quite a while, two weeks at least. we have had day after day of what they call an inversion. it basically means gray,cloudy skies, foggy at times, very little variance in the temperature from day to night (it goes from cold to colder), and stagnant air. finally on friday we woke up and saw the sun. everyone at work commented on how much better they felt just from the sun being out. hopefully it will stick around for a while!

Date Night!

Bob and I went to Chelan for the yearly Fire and Ice Festival. Started off with fireworks at the park.

The downtown sidewalks were filled with ice sculptures created by different people or groups, these are a few of my favorites: the sun, the bear, and the penguin.

Bob insisted I sit in the ice sculpture chair. It was nice to get out. Sometimes we don't enjoy the things that are going on right in our own town, I know I had not been to this event since I have lived here. What did you do Saturday night?
